Revitalizing Gold’s Gym Langley: A Dynamic Commercial Exterior Painting Project
Over the years, Argenta Painting has been fortunate enough to provide commercial exterior painting services for a few different businesses in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. In 2022, we were called once again by Gold’s Gym to do a full paint job of their current location on Fraser 81a Ave, Langley Twp. As with all our previous commercial clients, we had a thorough inspection and measurement phase to understand the scope of the project and what work had to be done before we started.
The initial project for this business took place in November 2016, focusing on painting the interior of the entire gym. Our client was highly impressed with the quality and results of our work and subsequently requested our services for another full repaint, this time for the commercial exterior painting of the establishment.
The Scope of the Project
The scope of this commercial exterior painting project was clear: repaint the exterior of the business. However, several challenges arose during the execution. For instance, numerous hard-to-reach areas necessitated the use of a Boom Lift for access. Safety was paramount in these instances, requiring meticulous planning and execution to ensure the well-being of our skilled painters and ourselves. Our team possesses all necessary certifications, including boom lift certification and fall protection, for working at elevated heights.
Another challenge encountered was the significant color changes requested by the client. Accommodating drastic color shifts demands a deep understanding of the painting process to meet and exceed the client’s expectations. Fortunately, our experienced painters are well-versed in overcoming any obstacles that arise during commercial exterior painting projects.

The Preparation Process
The first step in any commercial exterior painting project is to pressure wash all the areas that require painting to remove dirt and loose paint. Following the washing process, our painters meticulously scrape any remaining loose paint that wasn’t removed during pressure washing. Subsequently, our team caulks all cracks in the concrete to prevent water seepage into the building and to seal out dirt, preventing structural damage. In severely damaged areas, cement patch is applied for necessary repairs.
After completing crack repairs and patching, our painters prime the structure to prepare it for the new coat of paint, a crucial step that ensures paint adhesion and prevents future peeling. Once priming is finished, the crew proceeds to apply the first coat of paint.
Throughout the project, our painters exercise extra caution when moving ladders, tools, and equipment due to the high foot traffic in the area. Ensuring the safety of both the crew and customers is paramount, particularly in commercial exterior painting projects where there is constant movement in and out of the building.
Commercial Exterior Painting
After completing all the prepping work, it was time to embark on the commercial exterior painting process. However, due to the presence of people and cars in the parking lot, using an airless spraying machine posed a risk of over spraying onto the vehicles. As a result, our painters opted to utilize a brush and power roller to meticulously apply two coats of paint to the designated areas. Additionally, given the requirement for four different colors in this commercial exterior painting project, our team exercised extreme caution to ensure each hue was precisely applied to its intended location.
One significant challenge arose when the client requested a color change for the canopy from red to a vibrant yellow. Working with yellow presented unique difficulties, necessitating the use of industrial primer specifically designed for horizontal metal surfaces. Subsequently, our painters meticulously applied four coats of yellow paint to the canopy, employing careful techniques to prevent any overspray that could potentially damage vehicles in the parking lo
